That earned him another easy smile, Ben picking up his own mug again and taking a sip before he asked: "Would you like some eggs? Toast? Something protein-shaped is probably going to be the best as far as the headache, but I understand if that sounds like too much."
It was part of the reason he hadn't started on breakfast yet, because he wasn't really hungry himself, but knew he should eat, and just wanted to make sure that if Hux needed anything he'd be able to get it.
It was terrible, the more he was around the other the more he wanted to be around him. That easy smile of Ben's caught him easy enough into a trap and for the moment he could forget he had a hangover at all. Headache or not.
"Toast sounds fine for now." He said, moving to sit his mug down and lean on the counter, watching the other with the kitten on his shoulder. "With some of that jam you found the other day..."
"We can manage that." He said, nodding once -slowly, as not to set his own headache off again- and turning to kiss the top of Millicent's head, "Go ahead and have a seat. Won't take long."
Really what took the longest was cutting the bread, because he was perhaps a little more exacting about it than the task strictly called for, but he was being careful not to upset the cat on his shoulder, and to make sure all the slices were even.
"And if I want to be in the way?" What? He'd have to ask himself where that thought came from later, but it just came out. There was a moment where he moved to--no, he did move to sit on the counter, sliding himself up onto it and sitting there in his lounge pants and navy shirt. He picked his mug up again and watched the other with the kitten and the bread.
Once in a while he had to remind himself they were married. It was okay to want him. Other times he had to remind himself this was purely political. It was harder to remember it was political when Ben smiled like he did though.
"Then we'll just have to figure out how to work around you." He replied, tone gone matter of fact.
There was another smile as Armitage did just that, because, well, Ben couldn't fault him for that one, if anything he would have done the same thing. It was also why he scooped Millicent easily off of his shoulder and into Armitage's lap on the way past putting the bread away and getting the jam out while the bread toasted.
"Seems simple enough." He said and.... he had a cat in his lap. He rested a hand under her so she didn't fall. He might not be 'fond' of her but he didn't want her hurt. (And when we say no fond, we mean fond but refusing to how it yet).
He scooped her up and moved her to his own shoulder, hand under her to keep her safe. The damn thing was purring. "I see the cost is I get the kitten dumped off on me. You know she sheds."
"She does, but you'll survive." He replied, pressing a brief kiss to Armitage's temple in passing. It was the kind of thing that he had to remind himself he was allowed to do. They were married after all, and political arrangement or not, they did like each other, at least a little, so there was no reason he could see not to be affectionate.
While the bread was toasting he went about opening a packet of food for the cat, setting it in what was becoming her customary spot on the floor, picking her up gently from Hux's shoulder to set her next to the bowl with the reminder of: "You can eat some now and some later, you don't have to suck it all down right now." He didn't think she actually understood him, but that was beside the point, really.
Once he'd buttered and jellied the toast he set two slices on a plate for Armitage, handing it over with a wry: "You can eat yours all at once, that's up to you."
He'll survive. And after that small kiss of his cheek his face burned a red for a moment, reaching his ears. He was glad the other was doing other things at the moment. He sucked in on his lower lip a moment before letting it go, watching Ben still.
Watching how he interacted with the cat. And there she went to be fed. When the toast was brought to him next and the comment made he held the toast a moment before saying "Hey..." to get the others attention. He sat the toast on the counter beside his mug, reached out and softly pulled Ben forward, attempting to steal a small kiss.
They were married. It was okay. Any time Ben showed some form of affection (which was weird to him still) he wanted to kiss the man (which too was weird to him still).
His brow creased a little as the toast was set aside, mostly worried that Armitage's hangover was worse again even despite the assistance from the Force, and so he stepped closer, concerned and ready to help him down from the counter if he needed it.
But then what he was actually after was made abundantly clear, and Ben just smiled, returning the kiss gently, one hand settling lightly on Armitage's thigh to keep himself balanced.
He didn't mean to worry the man over the toast or his condition, but he was reminded that it was okay to do these things, and Ben had never protested affections. Hell, it was Ben that showed them the most. Armitage was still... learning to be affectionate.
So a moment like this was something. It was unsure what that something was. Special, maybe, or just rare at least, but it was something. He kissed the other softly, chin tipped out a bit to give the kiss a bit more to it, for just a few more moments, before drawing back a fraction of an inch. "Couldn't help myself."
He relaxed easily into the kiss once he knew what was going on, and smiled at what was a surprisingly cheeky statement from the redhead, "I had no idea I was so irresistible." Though mostly that was because Armitage rarely took the initiative like that, though he always seemed happy to reciprocate when Ben did, but Ben was continually worried about overstepping, despite -and perhaps because of- the fact that they were married.

I see. Yes, actually, the world no longer seems to be on the wrong tilt.
